'Can you please design a wind-shield for the terrace for us' - was the initial briefing for the later legendary additional glazed terrace pavilion that is attached to Kämp hotel. Kristina saw a windshield construction impossible at this site. The building needed more. After a study trip to Paris and its legendary terraces such as Cafe de la Paix and Cafe Flore as examples, a proper extension was designed for the hotel. The city wanted the new extension to have a modern expression, which is why its design is deliberately pared-back and contemporary, with none of the decorative columns or mouldings characteristic of the original building. The square looks were softened with sandblasted patterns on windows together with curtains and fabric canopy.
